What developer show do you want to follow?

Do you know America’s Got Talent? The X Factor, Pop Idol, or The Voice? It’s the same, but for developers.

You got to be the judge who decides which developer show will be produced.

People in front of a big stage

As some of you might have noticed, I started my YouTube channel last December and a few months in with different tutorials on the channel I want to create something unique, something new that helps the community every week.

I’m thinking of creating a show focused on the .NET development platform from developers for developers.

The best thing is you, as a community, get to decide what type of show it will be. You can choose from three different show propositions.

It is very simple. First, read through the short show descriptions below and decide which format you like the most. Second, click on the survey link below the show descriptions and vote for the show you want to see.

Hint: The titles of the shows are working drafts, and they will be refined if the show will be produced. If you have any excellent title idea, please share it with me. I’ll make sure to attribute the name of the show to you if you wish. 😊

Show 1: .NET Showcase

Format: 15-20 minutes talking to a guest about a library/tool he/she created for the .NET eco-system. The show enables us to get to know about different libraries or tools that we might use in future projects ourselves.

The show should work as a window for the creator to get exposure to his work. It can be helpful for people creating great things that do not have a massive following on the Internet yet.

The community should be able to ask questions in advance that I can redirect to the guest on the show. People can also contact me if they want to be on the show. I would like to have a big range of different people with different backgrounds on the show.

Show 2: .NET Library Crash Course

Format: 20-30 minutes of exploring a .NET library or tool on my own. Beginning with the installation/download of the thing and ending with a hopefully great example of what can be achieved with the library or tool at hand.

The community should be able to vote for the tool or library they want to see next. And I make sure to test it thoroughly and document my experience with it on the show.

The idea is to get to know a lot of different tools or libraries. And in contrast to Show 1, this show is about the hands-on experience with it.

Show 3: Developer Stories

Format: 15-20 minutes talking to a person from the community that has an exciting story to share about their software development career.

Of course, I’d love people from the .NET world on the show, but this kind of show would also be suitable for guests with other development backgrounds since the focus of the show lies in the stories behind the different people, not a specific development stack.

It could be interesting to hear from different people in different stages of their career. This show could also feature people that are not library creators or something similar to the people fitting in Show 1.

Voting: You got to judge!

All right, it’s time for your vote!

Vote For Your Favorite Show!

Vote for your favorite show with a single click and let me know in the comments what you think about the ideas. You can also vote for multiple shows.

Closing words

I am very thankful and happy for every vote, and I appreciate feedback or ideas in regards to the show propositions above. I hope that this experiment will result in a lot of feedback that helps me build a show that offers value to the developer community.

If you think that all those shows are boring and that you have a much better idea, please let me know too!
